Hopefully this page will answer all of your questions about transferring a firearm to the state of California.

First and Foremost:  We recommend that you ONLY purchase guns from federally licensed firearms dealers when doing business on line.  If there is any issue, it is MUCH easier to deal with a licensed dealer than a private party.  You will notice that most private individuals have a "no refund or return" policy.  If a gun arrives from a dealer in a condition 'other than advertised', we have recourse!  From a private individual, it is much more difficult to work out these situations!  If you would like a list of dealers we recommend, please contact us!

1. We do NOT deal in any type of AR style guns.  The laws are too "gray" for us to feel comfortable in dealing with this particular type of firearm.  Sorry.  If you are looking for someone to handle a transfer of this nature, please contact us and we will supply you with a list of dealers who will take care of this.

2. If it is a handgun, please check the California Department of Justice Firearms website to make sure that this gun is on the California certified list.  The model number MUST match perfectly for it to be accepted in California.  We have provided the link:  http://certguns.doj.ca.gov/

3. If it is an older model handgun, it might qualify under the Curio and Relic status.  However, at this point you would need to contact us directly so we can make this determination.  A C&R weapon must be at least 50 years old.

4.  Now that you have gone through all of this preliminary "stuff", you are ready to purchase the gun.  Buy the gun from the dealer.

5. Supply the dealer with our name, address, phone number and fax number.  Make sure you tell them that we will be your transfer dealer.

6. Contact us directly (by phone) with your name, address and phone number, the make and model of gun you purchased, the dealers name address, phone number and fax number and any invoice or item number for your purchase.  At this point we will contact the dealer directly and exchange information.  We will fax or email them our FFL and get your gun on its way!

7. Come in and see us.

Our Fees for Transfers:
$60.00 transfer fee +$25.00 state paperwork fee = $85.00 out the door
